YEP GROUP ORGANISES COMPETITON AND TALK
REAM’s Young Engineers and Professionals (YEP) Group organised a 2-hour technical talk on BIM Modelling for Infrastructure and Lessons Learnt on 12 October in conjunction with the MRC and IRF Congress.
The session, facilitated by Mr. Ahmad Nadymy from BIM ASIA focused on modelling workflow, checking and comparing using BIM software and concluding with the lessons learnt in using BIM for infrastructure works.
The session provided the participants the opportunity to share opinions, thoughts and suggestions on the usage of BIM in Malaysia. During the brainstorming session, a consensus pertaining to the improvement of BIM in construction was reached.
Earlier in mid- August, YEP initiated a BIM hands-on competition on Bridge Modelling.
The objectives of the competition, among others included:
To provide opportunities for participants to show their talents in BIM hands-on.
To encourage the application of BIM infrastructure technology.
To explore the potential applications of BIM infrastructure technology.
The participants who were given one month to complete the design were required to utilise one of the following mediums:
BIM software (Navisworks, Civil 3D & Revit)
Any video format (e.g., animation)
Slide show presentation
The evaluation to select the best four entries for final judging was carried out by a professional jury.
The four finalists were invited to the talk session and were given 10 minutes to present their modelling output based on the models submitted. The final grading was based on planning approach, explanation, knowledge demonstration, compliance with requirements and creativity.
The winners who received cash, a trophy and certificate were:

Third - Ts. Muhammad Hilman bin Adnan (Antechnologies Sdn Bhd)
