The Permanent International Association of Road Congress (PIARC) also known as the World Road Association has appointed the Director General of Public Works Department, Malaysia (PWD) as the First Delegate for Malaysia. This passing of the baton was as a result of the recent retirement of the former Director General of PWD and PIARC’s First Delegate Datuk Ir. Haji Adanan Mohamed Hussain.

REAM YEP organised a technical visit to Rawang ByPass project on 3 February 2016. Rawang Bypass project is being built to enhance the Level of Service of the current Federal Route 1 ( towards Rawang Town ) and Rawang Town from the current rating of F to C rating with minimum social impact and minimal disturbance to the environment. It is also to reduce the traveling time from Serendah to Kuala Lumpur from two (2) hours to thirty (30) minutes during peak hours and to spur the economies of Rawang, Serendah, Batang Kali and stretches to Tanjung Malim town.

Works Minister leads Malaysian Delegation to the 25th World Road Congress (WRC) 2015 in Seoul, Korea

One of the largest delegations to the 25th World Road Congress 2015 in Seoul, Korea was from Malaysia. The close to 100-member delegation was led by the Minister of Works Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof. The delegation included seven members of a cultural group from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia who showcased the Malaysia’s traditional dances at the Malaysian Pavilion.

REAM and Lafarge Malaysia inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) towards initiating an equally beneficial collaboration in knowledge transfer and innovation in the area of road engineering in Malaysia and other related areas.

The signing ceremony was held on 15 October 2015 in conjunction the inaugural series under the Building Better Roads Seminars entitled ProSolutions: Building Better Connected Roads for the Future.

REAM accorded membership in IRF

REAM was offered complimentary membership by the International Road Federation (IRF) in January 2015. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed soon by REAM and IRF to further enhance the existing cooperation and collaboration. REAM members can now enjoy substantial discounts in registration fees for all events organised by IRF locally and overseas.
